Luxembourg focuses on The Irish XR Ecosystem

By Camille Donegan, CEO at Eirmersive

It was great to be in Luxembourg this week at the Immersive Pavilion Luxembourg as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.

I had the pleasure of representing the Irish XR ecosystem alongside Jo Mangan of The Performance Corporation (an Eirmersive member) and Conn Holohan of the Centre for Creative Technologies at University of Galway on the Focus on Ireland: The Irish XR Ecosystem panel discussion. It was a great opportunity to share the energy and collaboration shaping immersive work across Ireland.

A highlight was meeting Jean McDonald Ireland’s Ambassador to Luxembourg and discussing the strength of Ireland’s creative technology sector and the opportunity for deeper international collaboration.

Huge credit to Guy Daleiden, CEO Filmm Fund Luxembourg and Myriam Achard, PHI Montréal for curating such a thoughtful programme and bringing together creators and innovators from across the global immersive community.

The pavilion featured a fantastic selection of immersive works including:

• The Clouds Are Two Thousand Meters Up, Singing Chen - technically brilliant piece

• The Dollhouse, Charlotte Bruneau and Dominic Desjardins - loved the interactivity and paper aesthetic

• The Exploding Girl VR, Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel - loved the rawness of this piece

• Lacuna, Maartje Wegdam and Nienke Huitenga-Broeren - thought provoking and considered storytelling

• Less Than 5gr of Saffron, Négar Motevalymeidanshah - our hearts are also bleeding for the situation in Iran

• A Long Goodbye, Kate Voet and Victor Maes - such beautiful storytelling, loved the painterly style and gentle scene change and interactive mechanics

• Radio Luxembourg Ghosts of the Villa, Dominique Santana - learnt alot about what a cultural and social phenomenon Radio Luxembourg was for 59 years!

• Reflections of Little Red Dot, Chloé Lee - could have stayed in the stories of Singapore for hours - excellent method to give agency in accessing documentary story threads

It was inspiring to see how immersive storytelling continues to evolve through powerful combinations of art technology and new forms of audience engagement.

Great conversations new connections and lots of inspiration to bring back to the Irish XR community.

It was really nice to reconnect with familiar faces, Alexandra Gerard, Max Permantier, David Massey, Sebastien Nahon and make lots of new industry connections 😀
