Member Spotlight: Virtual Prison Tour Officially Launched at Wheatfield Prison

The Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan has launched the new Virtual Prison Tour, developed by Emagine in partnership with the Irish Prison Service.

This educational resource is now available online and in VR headsets, offering an inside look at Wheatfield Prison. It aims to improve public understanding of prison operations and support recruitment by allowing potential staff to explore the environment before applying.

”This new initiative follows the Criminal Justice Sectoral Strategy 2022 – 2024 commitment to increase public awareness and understanding of the criminal justice system, develop a structured form of engagement with our key stakeholders to support the development of services and the formulation of policy”

The Minister described it as “an innovative project that will greatly enhance public understanding of how our prisons operate”.

Congratulations to the Irish Prison Service for collaborating with Emagine on this important initiative.
