Eirmersive member Glasseye recently returned from a successful week at the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes Immersive Market, where CEO Janet Black and Creative Director Agustín Vidal Saavedra represented the company as part of the prestigious Curators Network.
The programme brought together curators, venue operators and cultural programmers from around the world, providing Glasseye with an opportunity to present its immersive projects and explore new international partnerships. The event created a valuable platform for conversations around the future of immersive experiences and highlighted growing global interest in XR and spatial storytelling.
A key theme emerging from the week was the increasing recognition of immersive media within the wider cultural and entertainment sectors. Discussions throughout the market reinforced the view that XR, spatial narratives and collective immersive experiences are moving beyond niche audiences and becoming an important part of the future of cinema, cultural programming and live experiences.
Janet Black also contributed to a panel discussion examining the future of LED domes and immersive theatres, alongside industry leaders R.D. Delgado and Jakub Rozehnal, with the session moderated by Anne McKinnon. The panel explored how these venues are evolving into spaces that support shared immersion, audience participation and new forms of cinematic storytelling.
The event also showcased the breadth and quality of immersive work being created internationally through the Cannes Immersive Competition. Particular attention was drawn to the innovative 360-degree projection and VR venue that hosted the programme, demonstrating how flexible immersive technologies can transform a wide variety of spaces into shared audience environments.
Reflecting on the experience, the Glasseye team highlighted the value of the new connections, insights and collaborative opportunities created during the week, as well as the growing momentum behind immersive storytelling worldwide.
Congratulations to Janet, Agustín and the entire Glasseye team on representing Ireland’s immersive sector on the international stage. We look forward to seeing the partnerships and projects that emerge from these new connections in the months ahead.
